Requirements
1st grade - Students must read 10 books 1 Award Winner 5 Fiction (E) 4 Non-Fiction (000-999) 2nd-5th grade - Students must read 15 books 1 Award Winner 7 Fiction 1 History (901, 913, 930-999) 1 Travel (910, 914-919) 1 Biography (B or 920) 2 Science (500, 600) 2 Other Non-Fiction (000-999) |
Awards
Students who read and report on the required number and variety of books will be recognized as members of the Texas Readers Club and earn a special Readers Club activity at the end of the school year. Participants can earn a Texas Readers Club Certificate and get to attend a celebration in the Spring. Tips Classroom teachers will establish guidelines for record-keeping and reporting on books. Find award-winning books using the SME library catalog. Use award names (such as Caldecott and Newbery) as search terms. |
